Germany – Frank Schätzing
Frank Schätzing, born in Cologne in 1957, is a winner of the Köln Literatur Prize, the Corine Award, and the German Science Fiction Award. He published the historical novel Tod und Teufel in 1995, which first became a regional bestseller and later became a national bestseller. After two other novels, a volume of stories and the thriller Lautlos, Der Schwarm was published in spring 2004. Since its publication, it has sold more than 4.5 million copies and has been translated into 27 languages worldwide. The bestsellers Limit (2009), Breaking News (2014) and Die Tyrannei des Schmetterlings (2018) followed. Schätzing has also made a name for himself as a non-fiction author. In 2006, Bild der Wissenschaft awarded his evolutionary story Nachrichten aus einem unbekannten Universum as the best science book. In 2021 he made it onto the non-fiction bestseller list again with What if we just save the world?. His books Der Schwarm and Nachrichten aus einem unbekannten Universum have been translated into Chinese. Frank Schätzing lives and works in Cologne.
