Sun Pin was born in 1983 and is a professional writer with the Jiangsu Writing Association. Her novels include Pictures from the Pine Forest Banquet, Pain and Salt. She has featured in the Best Chinese Novels of the Year in 2013, 2016 and 2017, she has won the Novel Monthly Report Award, the Hua Cheng Literary Award and the Zijin Literary Award, among others.
