EU-China-litfest 07: Poetic Voices: Art that Unites Pleasure with Truth
EU-China-litfest 16: Linguistic Richness: Poets on the Page
Speakers:
Helena Boberg (Sweden), Simone Inguanez (Malta), Dai Weina (China)
Sunday, December 19. 4pm
Today we shall be joined by highly talented poets from Sweden, Malta and China to discuss their writing lives and their rich, distilled writing processes. Acclaimed Swedish poet Helena Boberg’s second book Sense Violence (Sinnesvåld) is a book-length poem that hinges on the dichotomy of a masculine will to power and a call to action for a feminine collective to confront it on all corners – from mythologies to cultural tropes and ingrained hierarchies. Simone Inguanez is a poet, translator and arts strategist from Malta. Her acclaimed work has been translated into several languages, and as a poet she is particularly fascinated with people, narratives, words and silence. Dai Weina is a poet, short story writer, playwright, translator, editor and scholar based in Beijing. She has published several poetry collections, notably Face Shield and Soul Gymnastics. Her numerous awards include the Annual Pacific Poet Award, and her work has been translated into English, German and Korean. Helena Boberg, Simone Inguanez and Dai Weena will join moderator xxx to discuss their writing and the poet’s perpetual pursuit of linguistic richness.
