以“如何讲故事:探索多重方式”为主题的活动在树德生活馆顺利举行。讲座邀请了小说家、文学杂志编辑陈崇正,学术作者、散文家、小说家 Mineke Schipper,小说家、编辑、艺术家王十月,波兰记者、作家 Wojciech Jagielski (活动主持是《南方都市报》文化副刊部主编、作家刘炜茗),围绕“如何写故事?”等问题进行了精彩的分享,并回答了读者们的几个问题。
In November 20th, an activity with the theme of How to Tell the Tale: Exploring Multiple Avenues was held successfully at Shuter life, joined by novelist and literary journal editor Chen Chongzheng (China); author of academic books, essays and novels Mineke Schipper (The Netherlands); novelist, editor and artist Wang Shiyue (China), and journalist, correspondent and writer Wojciech Jagielski (Poland)(in conversation with Liu Weiming, author and director of the Literature and Periodical Department of the Southern Metropolis Daily).They shared their experiences and answered some questions including how to write a story and the questions from readers.
在怎么写好故事这个问题上,Mineke Schipper作家首先跟大家分享了她自己的经历,谈到了“体验”对她的启发。她在非洲居住了多年。这离开原住地的居住体验使她能从不同的角度来看待原来所处的环境并得到灵感。她有一些作品就是与非洲人和欧洲人如何看待彼此有关。在那之后她写了一本书 Bird Falls Bird Flies(暂无中文译名),故事背景横跨了欧洲,荷兰,越南,美国和中国香港。
On how to write a story, at first, Mineke Schipper shared how experiencing has inspired her story. She has lived in Africa for many years. Living far from her original place is refreshing, which made her see her original world in a different way and get inspirations. For example, one of her work is about how Africans and Europeans see each other. Later, she wrote a book named Bird Falls Bird Flies whose background is partially in Europe, Holland, Vietnam, USA and Hong Kong.
她还特别提到了在越南的经历,谈到她通过展开想象来写故事的方法。有一天她在越南饭店遇到一名眼神忧郁的年轻男子,仿佛受过伤一般,她开始想象他只有18岁,是美国大兵,曾经参与战争,为国家而战,现在又回到了这罪恶之地。她很喜欢通过问问题来推动想象,她说“我总是喜欢问问题。问这意味着什么?。”于是在书中,他变成了一位父亲,他的儿子被派往伊拉克战争。为了继续这个故事,她还做了一些调查和采访,询问士兵们是如何在战争中受伤等问题。调查和采访也是她写故事的另外一种方法。
She mentioned her experience in Vietnam particularly sharing her way of writing story by imagination. One day, she met a young man with sad eyes as if he had been wounded. She imagined that he was 18-year-old American soldier who had fought in the war in the name of USA and now he came back this place of crime. She loved to ask questions to promote the imagination, so she asked herself “I always like to ask questions.Like what does it mean?” After asking herself, she turned the young man into a father whose son was asked to be in the Iraq War in her book. In order to continue the story, she had even done the interviews with soldiers asking them how were they wounded in wars. Doing interview and survey is the other way of writing a story of her.
她还提到了她的代表作《别娶大脚女人:世界谚语中的女性》。此书收集了全世界关于女人工作,身体和权利的谚语。虽然由于难度大,她只收集了一万五千条谚语,这些谚语还是反映出了一些客观事实:男孩比女孩重要。推荐大家阅读!
She also mentioned her famous work Never Marry a Woman with Big Feet: Women in Proverbs from Around the World which has collected proverbs about the female body, job and right. Although she has just collected about 15,000 proverbs because of great difficulties, they find the reality reflected in there proverbs. That is that man is more important than girl. It is highly recommended reading.
作为上岗超过25年的驻外记者,Wojciech Jagielski作家回顾了他的记者经历来回答如何写好故事这个问题。他认为作为记者成为作家并非易事,对于他来说,首先记者是不需要想象力的,并且只采访高端人士,会错过很多平常人的故事,即使了解其他国家如阿富汗的历史等信息,也不足以能使他写作。因此他必须问自己,“阿富汗的历史是关于什么的,恨,自由还是缺失?”在回答和思索中,他开始了写作。灵感对于写好一个故事十分重要。他也提到“我的灵感有很多来源:阅读,我遇到的人,我遇到的事情,我所看见的景象和某个日常对话中。”他写的东西是非虚幻,基于事实的,但是他的一些描述却是主观的,饱含感情的。他认为人无法做到完全客观, 这对写好故事也十分重要。
As a foreign correspondent for the past 25 years, Wojciech Jagielski answered the question by reviewing his career. He said correspondent becoming author is difficult for him. At first, imagination is not required. Then, only interviewing high-end people hinders him from knowing common people’s stories. Thirdly, mastering the history of Afghanistan does not mean that he can write. He had to ask himself “ What does its history reflect? Hostility? Freedom? Or loss?” He started writing in trying to answer the question.Inspiration is significant to write a good story. He also mentioned: “I have inspirations from many different parts, reading,the people I meet,the things I encounter, what I see, sentences in daily life. What he wrote is of non-fiction and based on the fact, but some of his description is subjective and full of emotions. He believed that human can not be totally objective, which is good for story writing.
王十月是一位工作经历十分丰富的作家,曾从事过20多个职业。他自认是喜新厌旧之人,无法从事一个职业超过两年的时间,直到他遇上写作。他说:“文学是最能满足我喜新厌旧想法的了,因为我要不停地寻找新的故事,还要用新的角度把它写出来。” 他提到很多中国作家想成为风格化作家,即读者大约读完三百字就能认出来这个作家是谁,但是他想成为风格多样化的,反风格化的作家。在他看来,写好一个故事就是不断尝试新的风格。
Wang shiyue is an novelist who has worked in more than 20 professions. He regarded himself as a person fickle in affection who can not concentrate on one profession for more than two years until he started writing.He said: “ Writing fits best with my personality as being fickle in affection, because I need to find new stories and new perspectives continuously. He claimed that many Chinese novelists want to stylize themselves hoping to make readers can recognize who is the writer as soon as reading about three hundred words of his work.Nonetheless, he wanted his style diverse and be anti-stylized. From his point of view, always trying new style is beneficial for writing a story.
陈崇正作家。他认为写作更多依赖于想象。他最近总结了一下自己的写作生涯,他说:“如果用一个比较形象的情景来比喻我的写作的话,那就是我像蜘蛛一样,不是蜘蛛侠或者蜘蛛精,不断耕织我的精神领域。”他还指出“写作是立体构建的过程” 在他的上一部作品《黑镜分身术》里,一个人可以选择将自己分成三个人,比如当红明星可以利用分身术去享受人生。此书更多倾向于描述多元的世界。
Chen Chongzheng believed that writing much depended on imagination. He has recently summarized his writing career and said that “ If there is one scene can be compared to my writing scene, that is I like spider, not spider man or spider monster, am spinning the web of my spiritual realm. He also mentioned than writing is to construct in three dimension. In his work Body Separation of Black Mirror, one can separate himself into three bodies, for example, popular stars can enjoy their life using this technique. The book tends to write about pluralistic world.
他还说过去的30年里,中国的情况变得越来越复杂,像蜘蛛网一样复杂,面对复杂的现实,作家需要有勇气置喙,重新建立秩序,重建世界。
He also alleged that China is now more and more complex like web of the spider since thirty years ago. Writers should take their responsibilities to reconstruct the world and build new order.
到了交流环节,读者们积极与作家交流,一共提了四个问题。其中,有一位读者问Mineke Schipper如何看待有些作家为自己写作,作品不具教育意义的问题?她回答表示每个作家关心的应都是教育意义,而不是为自己来写作。如果只为自己写作,不能走得长远。还有读者问王十月作家是如何快速学习并使用不同的风格来写作?作家回答平日的积累十分重要,学习和阅读要广泛涉猎。
In the session of communication, readers ask questions positively. A reader asked Mineke Schipper what was her opinion about those writers who write for themselves rather than for everyone with pedagogical meaning.
She answered that every work should be educational.If any writer only writes for himself, he can not make progresses in the long term. Another one asked Wang Shiyue how can he learn to write in a new style so fast? Wang answered than wide knowledge accumulation is very helpful.
