Biography
Cai Jun was born in 1978 and began writing at the age of 22. He is the most popular suspense novelist in China and the editor-in-chief of Suspense World magazine and website. He is a member of the National Committee of the Chinese Writers Association, director of the Shanghai Writers Association, vice chairman of the Shanghai Internet Writers Association, director of the Shanghai Youth Literature and Art Association, and director of the Shanghai Youth Intellectuals Association. As of 2019, the total sales volume of the works exceeded 14 million, the sales exceeded 300 million yuan, and the readers exceeded hundreds of millions. He has maintained the highest selling record of Chinese suspense novels for 15 consecutive years.
Cai Jun’s works are known for their wild imagination, fascinating suspense and strict logic. They have not only won the love of tens of millions of readers in Chinese-speaking regions around the world, but have also been translated into English, Russian, Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese. The English and French versions of River of Death were launched in North America and Europe in November 2014 and September 2018, respectively. Many works have been adapted into movies, TV series, and stage plays such as “The Curse”, “The Nineteenth Floor of Hell”, “The Barren Village Inn”, “The Barren Village Apartment”, “Murder Like Water Years”, “Butterfly Cemetery”.
